Alexander Van der Bellen wins Austrian presidential election

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS. Presidential candidate of the Freedom Party of Austria Norbert Hoferaccepted his defeat in the repeat presidential election of Austria on December 4, reports TASS.

“I congratulate Alexander Van der Bellen on the victory and ask all Austrian people to unite and cooperate”, Hofer writes on Facebook.

Independent candidate and former leader of the Austrian Green Party Alexander Van der Bellen won the elections with 53.4% of votes. 46.6% voted in favor of Norbert Hofer. According to the preliminary data, almost 75% of Austrians took part in the election.

Hofer also said he intends to run again for presidency six years later.
