85 countries submit films for Academy Awards "Foreign Language Film" category, Armenia not included

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 12, ARMENPRESS. Eighty-five countries have submitted films for consideration in the Foreign Language Film category for the 89th Academy Awards, Oscars.org reports. Yemen is a first time entrant for the category.

The National Film Academy of Armenia had presented the “Earthquake” movie directed by Sarik Andreasyan, which is about the 1988 Spitak Earthquake, for the category. The film however is not included in the “long-list”.

5 out of the 85 films will be selected to be nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.
