96.4 thousand people seek jobs in Armenia

YEREVAN, AUGUST 17, ARMENPRESS. According to the State Employment Agency’s data, as of July 1, 2016, 96,4 thousand people seek employment in Armenia.

63.1 thousand are women, and 22.6 thousand are youth.

Director of the State Employment Agency Artak Mangasaryan briefed reporters on the latest data. “The number of unemployed people comprises 81.2 percent (78,2 thousand) of the total people who seek employment. The number of unemployed women continues to be high, which comprises 68.6 percent of the total number. The number of youth is 19,2 thousand, people with disabilities comprise 3.5 percent, or 2.8 thousand”, Mangasaryan said.

According to him, 50,5 percent of the unemployment rate are people who are seeking their first job, 39,8 percent of this number comprise the youth.

“12.4 percent of the unemployment rate are people with higher education or post-graduate degrees, 18,5 percent are people with vocational education, 5,6 with primary vocational education, general elementary education – 54,7 percent, and 8.8 percent with general education”, he said.
