YEREVAN, AUGUST 1, ARMENPRESS. Earthquake hit Azerbaijan, it also felt in Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh, “Armenpress” reports citing the Mediterranean SeismologicalCenter.
The epicenter was 143 km west from Baku, 22 km north-west from Sabirabad.
The earthquake occurred at 08:46 Yerevan local time.
The tremor measured magnitude 4.9 at the epicenter area.
The hypocenter of the seismic activity was 62 kilometers beneath the surface.
The earthquake was felt in Syunik province of Armenia, several administrative districts of Yerevan. A strong tremor was felt also in Nagorno Karabakh.
09:18 – The Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations informs:
“On August 1, at 08:46, the Armenian MES Seismic Protection Survey Seismological Network registered a 5.0 magnitude earthquake the epicenter of which was in the territory of Azerbaijan.
The geographical coordinates of the epicenter are north width 40.370and east length 48.130.
The hypocenter of the seismic activity was 10 kilometers beneath the surface.
The tremor measured magnitude 6-7 at the epicenter area.
3-4 magnitude earthquake was felt in Stepanakert, Nagorno Karabakh and the territory of Armenia, especially in Syunik, Vayots Dzor and Gegharkunik provinces. 2-3 magnitude earthquake was felt also in Yerevan.
