Armenian official involved in Panama Papers to issue statement

YEREVAN, MAY 18, ARMENPRESS. Former Chief Compulsory Enforcement Officer of Armenia Mihran Poghosyan will soon issue an announcement regarding his offshore accounts.

Poghosyan resigned on April 18 by saying:

“My name has surfaced in Armenian and International press regarding the Panama offshore papers. I regret that my name is listed along with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s family, who actually embezzled billions of dollars. It is unacceptable for my name to cause any parallel between my country and the authoritarian Azerbaijan. For this reason I have submitted a resignation letter. I will publicly speak on the offshore papers as an ordinary citizen, without holding state office.”
