YEREVAN, MAY 3, ARMENPRESS. On May 3 National Assembly RPA MP Artak Davtyan said to journalists the recent events in Karabakh-Azerbaijani line of contact showed that the Armenian Armed Forces are able to restrain and give respective response to Azerbaijan. Davtyan said the only way to restrain Azerbaijan is to have additional security guarantees. The Armenian side should do its best to maintain security of Nagorno Karabakh.
In response to the question whether Armenia should adopt more concrete stance towards Russia on the issue of selling weapons to Azerbaijan, Artak Davtyan stated: “I think that we should refrain from putting our questions and actions on an emotional basis. We now have nothing to add to what have said and talked during this time. We have heard non-concrete statements by several Russian representatives which received such a response from Armenia that we have nothing to add”, Davtyan added.
He also stated that Russia is one of the Minsk Group Co-Chairing countries, and the installation of investigative mechanisms in line of contact, the withdrawal of snipers from the frontline were proposed by the Co-Chairs to the conflicting parties. These proposals were accepted by the Armenian side, whereas Azerbaijani rejected them.
