RF reconfirmed its leading position in Middle East – experts

YEREVAN, MARCH 18, ARMENPRESS. Russia reconfirmed that fact that it is a key player in the Middle East. Political Narek Galstyan mentioned about this in a press conference at “Armenpress” media hall, referring to Russia’s actions in Syria.

“Russia became a leading player and it was its most important achievements. Pressing on the West, it managed to achieve a state of reality when others take into account its existence. Moreover, developments in Syria today are conducted in the sidelines of the agreements reached between Russia and the USA”, Narek Galstyan said.

In the words of expert in oriental studies Suren Manukyan, Russia’s goals and intentions were mainly realized. According to him, helping the Syrian people was not the goal of the Russian side. Official Moscow wanted to reinforce the positions of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, as well as ensure stability in the country.

To the question if US-Russia cooperation may lead to normalization of the relations between the two countries, Narek Galstyan answered that this cooperation cannot end the global confrontation of the two great powers.
