YEREVAN, MARCH 12, ARMENPRESS. In the second round of the Contenders’ Chess Tournament Armenian GM Levon Aronian will compete against Indian chess player Viswanathan Anand on March 12. As “Armenpress" reports, in the second round Peter Svidler- Veselin Topalov, Fabiano Caruana-Anish Giri, Sergey Karyakin-Hikaru Nakamura will also compete against each other.
In the first round Viswanathan Anand defeated Veselin Topalov, and the rest of the games: Peter Svidler- Sergey Karyakin, Hikaru Nakamura -Fabiano Caruana ,Anish Giri- Levon Aronian ended in draws.
After the first round Viswanathan Anand tops the ranking with one point. Peter Svidler, Levon Aronian, Fabiano Caruana, Sergey Karyakin, Hikaru Nakamura, Anish Giri share the 2-7th places with 0.5 points, while Veselin Topalov concludes the ranking with 0 points.
