YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 16, ARMENPRESS. Political scientist, DirectorofCaucasus Institute AlexanderIskandaryan does not foresee "apocalyptic" twist in Russian-Turkish relations. According to him, tension between Russia and Turkey is impossible excluding the situation in Syria. “Russian-Turkish relations are not really sustainable and I expect that they can deteriorate. It can happen because of the situation in Syria,” the political scientist said, “Armenpress’ reports.
Iskandaryan noticed that Turkey, bearing directly influence from the Syrian conflict, is also trying to involve NATO in it, which is not in the interests of the mentioned alliance.
According to the politologist, Armenia should attentively follow the developments and pursue complementary policy. “Armenian journalists, whom I call commentators, too often say that Armenian policy is bad as it is reactive but it needs to be proactive, progressive and take calculative steps. It is obvious for me it is better now for Armenia that its policy is reactive and does not take drastic steps. Taking drastic steps can be dangerous for us,”the political scientist emphasized.
