Armenia Government to realize new projects aimed at improving Armenia’s investment authority

YEREVAN, JANUARY 22, ARMENPRESS. The Government of the Republic of Armenia will implement new projects and actions aimed at improving Armenia’s investment authority in 2016. As “Armenpress” reports, improving investment authority is among 2016 top priorities of Armenia Government and it was confirmed during January 14 sitting.
It is particularly expected to implement 2016 program of improving business environment during the current year, measures connected with the Republic of Armenia investment concept, as well as ensure the required processes for the organization of international investment forum, develop components of national innovative system.
According to the Government, the investments made in Armenia, including direct foreign investments, have manifested fluctuating dynamics, namely, there was growth in investments during the pre-crisis period, which was followed by a drastic decline during the crisis in 2009. Later on unstable dynamics emerged.
In these conditions, according to the Government, a corresponding vision and a specific action plan is strictly important and is required in order to increase investments, ensure activation of investment activities, development of investment environment. The latter will provide a possibility to have clear idea about the problems, solutions related to investments, as well as measures concerning the improvement of investment environment.
To serve this purpose, the Government of the Republic of Armenia has confirmed the Concept on Investment Policy of the Republic of Armenia. The program of measures of the concept will serve as a basis to solve the aforementioned problems by stages.
Moreover, the Government of the Republic of Armenia with the support of the Asian Development Bank has initiated “Armenia: Investment Forum 2016” which will promote the growth in foreign investment flow, as well as export of Armenian products with competitive advantages, introducing Armenia’s investment opportunities and attractiveness of business environment.
