"Kogalymavia" to demand compensation from Egypt after the disaster A321

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 7, ARMENPRESS. Russian airline “Kogalymavia” (Metrojet brand), the Airbus A321 which crashed October 31 in the Sinai Peninsula in the attack, intends to seek compensation from the Egyptian authorities. This was told to Forbes Ismail Lepiev owning tourist holding TH&C, which includes “Kogalymavia”. “Armenpress” reports about the aforesaid, citing RIA Novosti.

“For me, a very important component of not only economic, but also political. Egypt is a partner of Russia in many spheres, it is this relationship that built up over decades, and we respect it to the last will try to agree on compensation without any judicial steps,” said Lepiev.

Currently, the carrier is waiting for the official announcement of the results of the investigation by Egypt, he said.

Lepiev also noted that “Kogalymavia” plans to increase the fleet from four to eight sides and, in addition to regular Charter programs, to develop the direction of regular traffic.

On 3 December it became known that the Federal service for transport supervision has not revealed significant violations in the activities of “Kogalymavia”.

The A321 aircraft to the Russian airline “Kogalymavia” carrying out flight Sharm El-Sheikh to St Petersburg, crashed on 31 October, after about half an hour after departure. The wreckage was found about 100 km to the South from the administrative centre of province Northern Sinai city of El Arish, near the settlement of El Hasna. In total the plane was 217 passengers and seven crew members, none survived.
