Eugene Kaspersky: Armenia can secure position in the world with its IT products

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS. Eugene Kaspersky, Director General of Kaspersky Lab and the winner of the 2015 Republic of Armenia Presidential Award in the Sphere of Information Technologies (IT) says that the award was unexpected but very pleasing at the same time.

“I got surprised but felt proud when I received the award. I can say that this is the reflection of the reality. Digital technologies, developed many years ago, aren’t safe nowadays unfortunately, they are subjected to various attacks and so cyber security appears in everyone’s spotlight. So I am very glad to receive the award, on the other had this is the indicator of the situation that the global cyberspace finds itself in,” Eugene Kaspersky emphasized.

He is convinced that in case of targeted activities Armenia can secure a position in the world with IT products. As he points out, Armenian mentality, traditions and achievements in education speak of great potential in the IT sector. “There are peoples that are good at mathematics, others are good programmers, in reality you have a great potential as you have many mathematicians and scientists. It is significant to pay much attention to education, develop university programs,” Kaspersky said.

Kaspersky, who was bestowed the award for his global contribution to the IT area, has made a considerable input in the area of high technologies. He is also a world-class specialist in the area of cybersecurity and the Director General of Kaspersky Lab – one of the leading private companies in the area. Kaspersky Lab is one of the biggest private companies in the sphere of cybersecurity. It has 40 regional branches in 200 countries including Armenia.
