Russia not to allow terrorists to power in Syria: Sergei Lavrov

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS. According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s resignation, which US and several European countries strive, is the “easy solutions” of the Syrian issue.

“Our colleagues in the West avoid long-term hard work and think that Bashar al-Assad’s resignation will easily solve all the issues. Many people try to introduce the Syrian conflict as a conflict between SunnisandShia, which is a strict provocation, to which a group of leaders are subjected to. Russian Federation’s basic issue is not to allow terrorists to power in Syria”, Sergey Lavrov mentioned, as “Armenpress” reports.

He noticed that the negotiations in Vienna on Syrian issue were the beginning of the resolution process.

Turning to activities for the future on Syrian issue, Sergey Lavrov told the following: We expect to pass regular meeting of the extended format in the future. During the upcoming meeting we will discuss 2 lists: First- Who should be considered a terrorist in the Sirrian issue and the second- Syria's political opposition should agree with the authorities”, Lavrov informed, adding that a pragmatic decision exists between the negotiating sides before the next meeting-to agree over the issue of one of the mentioned 2 lists.
