Russia rules out security agreements with Europe even if relations are normalized

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow will not sign agreements with European countries in areas related to Russia’s security, even if relations with the West are normalized, Interfax reported.

“When and if any European country wants to resume serious dialogue, first and foremost, we will listen to what they have in mind and what they can offer. And then we will decide whether it satisfies us or not. However, I can assure you of one thing: in areas on which the security of the state depends, we will not sign any agreements or reach any arrangements with Europeans, nor do we intend to,” he said while speaking at the “New Architecture of the World” session of the International Youth Festival in Yekaterinburg.
