YEREVAN, OCTOBER 23, ARMENPRESS. Great Britain Prime Minister David Cameron and his assistant Samantha presented gifts to Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife madam Peng Liyuan on the occasion of the finish of Chinese president’s visit to Great Britain. “Armenpress” reports about this, citing politicshome.com.
David Cameron was not quite faced with the age-old question: what do you get the person who’s got everything? It wasn’t too far off though, as he had to work out what present to give to Xi Jinping and his wifePeng Liyuan.
The answer, it emerges, is a personalised crystal platter, a lunar gold coin etched with two sheep, and a handbag from a fashionable British designer.
Downing Street detailed the following gifts from the PM and Samantha Cameron:
A Dartington Crystal centrepiece inscribed with: “Presented by Rt Hon David Cameron MP and Mrs Cameron on the occasion of the State Visit of the President of the People’s Republic of China and Madame Peng Liyuan.”
A “commemorative lunar gold coin from the Royal Mint to mark the Year of the Sheep”, which was designed by London-based artist Wuon-Gean Ho.
And a “charcoal grey leather with gold-toned plates” handbag called “the Albion Square” – which No 10 kindly clarifies was for Madame Peng – from “emerging British designer” Sophie Hulme.
