Kerry and Lavrov discuss solutions of Syria crisis

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 9, ARMENPRESS. US Secretary ofState John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed onThursday establishing mechanisms toavoid the two countries’ forces coming intoconflict inSyria, butdid not make any major decisions, State Department spokesperson John Kirby told reporters.

"[Kerry, Lavrov] talked onSyria and Ukraine, ontactical discussions and dialogue," Kirby said ata press briefing. "I wouldn't go so far asto say there were actual tactical decisions made, not a lot ofdecisions made onde-confliction [in Syria]." “Armenpress” reports the aforementioned citing Sputnik International.

Kirby went on, "I don't think we're atthe point where there are hard and fast modalities asto what the process will look like."

The two top diplomats had a 30-minute phone conversation, initiated bythe US state secretary.

According toa statement posted onthe Russian Foreign Ministry's website, Lavrov and Kerry discussed ways tosettle the Syrian crisis, including the coordination ofefforts infight againstISIL militants aswell asthe implementation ofthe Minsk accords.
