Hovik Abrahamyan: Armenia and Germany will succeed in further fostering positive dynamics of development of relations

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 2, ARMENPRESS. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, attended the official reception dedicated to the Unity Day of Federal Republic of Germany. As “Armenpress” was informed from the Information and Public Relations Department of the Government, the Head of the Government gave a congratulatory speech, which particularly read,

“On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and on my own, I cordially congratulate You, Mr. Ambassador, the staff of the German embassy and, through the Embassy, the friendly nation and the authorities of Germany on the occasion of the Unity Day of Germany. The day of October 3 is, indeed, an important day for the Federal Republic of Germany. The old dream of millions of Germans, unification of the two parts of Germany, came into reality 25 years ago, on October 3 of 1990. It was a development of European and world importance as well, as the collapse of the Berlin Wall signaled the end of a whole era of totalitarian rule, launching the free end democratic development of Eastern Europe and influenced the future world developments. Today, unified Germany is an important player on the international platform, is actively engaged in overcoming global challenges, as well as has its significant contribution in the regional security and stability. Consistent development of relation with Germany was and remains among foreign priorities of the Republic of Armenia. We attach great importance to strengthening and extending relations with Germany both by bilateral and multi-level formats, including within the framework of Eastern partnership. Centuries-old historical-cultural ties between our two nations , as well as the factor of the existence of the multi-thousand Armenian community in Germany, serve as favorable grounds for developing Armenian-German bilateral relations.

High level political dialogue has been established and successfully continues during intergovernmental cooperation dating back over two decades. Close ties have been established between the National Assembly of Armenia and German Bundestag”.

PM Abrahamyan also indicated the partnership in culture, science, trade and other spheres, adding that Germany is an important trade partner of Armenia and the first one among EU member states. Hovik Abrahamyan emphasized the existence of German capital in Armenia indicating that over 8 dozens of German companies operate in Armenia. He particularly emphasized the military cooperation between the two states within the framework of international peacekeeping missions.

“At the same time I am sure that bilateral cooperation has development potentials. I hope that we will not only preserve what we have achieved, but also, by mutual efforts, foster further the positive dynamics of development of relations”, the PM said.

Concluding his speech, Prime Minister Abrahamyan once again congratulated everyone on this memorable day wishing Germany and its people further achievements and peace.
