Armenian flag torn in Baku demonstrations against Armenian chess players

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. A group of the so-called Azerbaijani “TheKarabakh Liberation Organization” (KLO) members organized a demonstration against the delegation of the Armenian chess national team arriving in Baku yesterday to take part in the Chess World Cup 2015. The Armenian delegation also includes Grandmaster Levon Aronian.

As “Aрmenpress” reports referring to modern.az, KLO led by infamous Akif Naghi gathered in Azneft square where the opening ceremony of the Chess World Cup was to be held.

There was a clash between the police and the demonstrators. KLO members exclaimed: “Armenians! Go away!”, “You are not athletes, you’re terrorists” and other nonsense. They attempted to enter the building of the opening ceremony but met the resistance of the police. KLO members ostentatiously tore the flag of Armenia and trampled it.
