YEREVAN, AUGUST 21, ARMENPRESS. According to the research ordered by the International Lesbian Gay Association (LGBT) Azerbaijan has been named the most homophobe country in the world. Armenpress reports the latter referring to BBC Russian service.

One of the members of Azerbaijan LGBT community thinks that religion is to blame for rejecting people with non-traditional sexual orientation.

“Azerbaijan is a Muslim country where many people consider homosexuality as creation of the dirty West”, said the member of the community. According to the media, 90 percent of homosexuals in Azerbaijan has to conceal their orientation because of the society’s hostile attitude towards them and the impossibility of finding a job.
