Government and scientific circle to try to jointly develop agriculture

YEREVAN, AUGUST 10, ARMENPRESS. A consultation headed by the Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan took place at the Government on August 11. The consultation referred to the effective and full realization of the scientific potential of the agricultural sector. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms Vache Gabrielyan, Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan, Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan, the board and the staff of the Armenian National Agrarian University (ANAU) participated in the consultation.
As “Armenpress” was informed from the Information and Public Relations Department of the Government Staff, the Prime Minister, welcoming the guests, highlighted the debate format which aims to expose the existing problems and find ways to development in the agricultural sector. Hovik Abrahamyan mentioned that the Government has announced agriculture as a priority direction and in order to record higher performance the executive expects the support and active cooperation of the scientific potential of agro-food system.
Rector of the ANAU Arshaluys Tarverdyan thanked the PM for initiating such an unprecedented discussion which is a good opportunity to introduce and discuss proposal over the development of agro-food sector. He informed about the activities of the ANAU mentioning that the research projects of the University are conducted by finances allocated from the state budget of the Republic of Armenia (257.56 million drams in 2014).
After, exchange of ideas took place. The head of the executive, summing up the discussion, assigned to develop specific and realistic projects, jointly discuss with interested groups and submit to the government.
