Armenia's economic activity increased by 3.8% in six months

YEREVAN, JULY 20, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s economic activity during January-July, 2015 surpassed the same period of the last year by 3.8 percent. As “Armenpress” reports, the National Statistical Service of Armenia introduced the main preliminary microeconomic indexes of the social-economic situation of the country. Trade and foreign trade sectors have declined.

Construction production increased by 0.6 percent compared to the same period of the last year. Electricity production has also increased by 1.5 percent. Service sector (without trade) increased by 3.3 percent during the current year compared to January-July, 2014 and the gross agricultural output grew by 14.5 percent.

Trade decreased by 8.2 percent making up 973 billion and 735.2 million AMD. Industrial output increased by 5,1 percent compared to January-July, 2014. The consumer price index rose by 5.1percent. Average monthly nominal wage rose by 10.8 percent (178 thousand and 391 AMD). Foreign trade declined by 29.8 percent compared to January-July, 2014 (1 billion and 932.7 million USD), from which export declined by 11.2 percent making up 624.8 million USD and import declined by 36.2 percent making up 1 billion and 307.9 million USD. Dram's exchange rate against the US dollar in January-June was 476.87.

All absolute indicators are in current prices. Foreign trade index of January-July, 2015 is not complete due to incomplete compilation of trade indicators between EAEU countries and they are subject to adjustments in the future.
