Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan holds meeting with Syria's Ambassador to Armenia

YEREVAN, JULY 24, ARMENPRESS. The Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Gevorg Papoyan on Wednesday received the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to Armenia Nora Arisyan. Deputy Minister Narek Hovakimyan also attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the minister noted that Armenia and Syria are friendly countries and the political relations of the two countries are at a high level. He emphasized that there is great potential for the development in economic cooperation.

"Armenia is on the path of economic diversification. In this context we can further develop economic cooperation with joint efforts. Essentially, all our efforts are aimed at having a stable and developing country, and why not, a region.''

Issues related to the development of Armenian-Syrian cooperation in the economic sphere, the strengthening of business ties, the implementation of investment programs, the activation of mutual trade, and the increase in the volume of goods turnover were discussed. Possibilities of organizing international and specialized exhibitions, business conference were also addressed.

The interlocutors discussed the prospects of cooperation in the field of tourism. Papoyan briefed the Ambassador on the "Crossroads of Peace" initiative of the Armenian government, which aims to contribute to the creation of a new situation of peace and stability in the region for Armenia and neighboring countries.
