YEREVAN, JULY 11, ARMENPRESS. Armenia expects that the discussion of the application to include Kochari among non-material cultural values of UNESCO will be held this year on November. Vahram Kazhoyan, the Secretary General of the National Commission of Armenia for UNESCO, informed the journalists about this on July 11. “UNESCO provides expert support in the sphere of preservation and restoration of monuments. But the most promising thing that countries obtain by including their monuments and non-material cultural values in the list of the organization is that the given country creates a good portrait among other states”, said Vahram Kazhoyan.
Armenia has already included “Duduk and its music”, “Art of Khachkar, its denotation and khachkar-making”, epic of “Sasuntsi David” as well as “Lavash. Baking the traditional bread, its importance and its cultural manifestation in Armenia” in the list of non-material cultural values of UNESCO.
