Australian MP made a statement on the Armenian Genocide in Federal Parliament

YEREVAN, JUNE 17, ARMENPRESS. Australian MP Tony Zappia made a statement on the centenary of the Armenian Genocide in the Federal Parliament, as Armenian National Committee of Australia reports to Armenpress. “Though the Turkish government admitted that atrocities had been carried out, it still continues to deny they were a genocide and ascribe the events to the atrocities that had occurred during WWI,” mentioned Australian legislator, who is a veteran advocate for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

He celebrated the centenary of murder of 1.5 million of Armenians during 1915-1923 and offered his support to the families of the victims. The executive director of ANC Vache Ghahramanyan thanked the legislator for his comments and stressed the importance of referring to the still denying policy of Turkey on the historical events of 1915-1923.
