State-owned company invests one billion into a life-sized Titanic

YEREVAN, JUNE 4, ARMENPRESS: Workers are currently assembling a life-sized replica of Titanic in Daying County, China's Southwest Sichuan province, Armenpress reports, citing the China Radio International. The ship is being built by the Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group and is scheduled to be completed by the end of August 2017.

The group plans to turn the ship into a Carnival cruise liner open to visitors around the world.

"Titanic is a great ship. We will revive it and build it exactly the same size as the original, not just for remembrance but also to let people know the glory of human nature" said Su Jun, the president of Qixing energy investment group, the major investor of the ship.

Su believes that no other ships in history that could reflect the brilliance of human nature and therefore Titanic is worth remembering. Su says the ship will also serve for charity purposes.

The group has invested more than one billion yuan (160 million US dollars), twice the amount of the original ship.

A Titanic foundation was initiated during the Boao Forum in March. The income from ticket sales and other operating projects will go the charitable foundation which will be used as humanitarian aid for shipwreck accidents.

Tickets are expected to go on sale in Hong Kong on June 15th.

The price of a regular ticket will be sold at 3000 yuan (484 US dollars) per person for a night while the highest will reach at least six figures.
