In recent months, 500 Syrian-Armenians arrived in Armenia

YREVAN, 01 JUNE, ARMENPRESS. The situation in Syria is getting worse, due to which the number of Syrian-Armenians, who are arriving in Armenia, is growing.

The Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia Hranush Hakobyan stated this during the discussion of the State Budget Execution Report of 2014. The number of the Syrian-Armenians living in Armenia reached 13 thousand. Regrettably, the situation in Syria is getting worse, as a result of which in recent months, 500 Syrian-Armenians arrived in Armenia,” as Armenpress reports, Hakobyan underscored, adding that the solution of the Syrian-Armenians’ problems has prior significance for the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

Hranush Hakobyan noted that Syrian-Armenian children's education is regulated by the state budget. The tuition fees of the Syrian-Armenians students are paid by the state budget, as well as by the allocated funds of the charitable organizations. The Syrian-Armenian’s health problems also are resolved by the state budget.

Hranush Hakobyan informed that currently around 100 Syrian-Armenians are engaged in small and medium businesses in Armenia.
