YEREVAN, MAY 8, ARMENPRESS. The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan is hopeful that the full-fledged recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the United States is not a matter of “if”, but “when”. The President stated this at the course of the interreligious prayer devoted to the Armenian Genocide held at Washington National Cathedral on May 7.
As reports “Armenpress”, in his remarks, Serzh Sargsyan noted that the Armenian people had always felt the USA’s support as well, at the course of its 100-year old struggle for truth and justice.
Among other things, the President of the Republic o Armenia Serzh Sargsyan underscored: “The number of the Armenian Genocide victims would incomparably bigger, and the fate of the survivors would be much worse, if our friendly countries, including the United States, wouldn’t stand by our people in that heavy period.”
“Nowadays also there are attempts in the U.S. to give a distinct assessment to the Armenian Genocide. Only the fact that 44 states recognized and condemned that crime against humanity, is a flagrant prove of my words. I am hopeful that the full-fledged recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the United States is not a matter of ‘if’, but ‘when’,” President Serzh Sargsyan concluded.
