Armenian Genocide centennial events held in Sweden

YEREVAN, APRIL 27, ARMNEPRESS: Concerts of Geghard Choir, devoted to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide, were held in the Oskar’s Church on April 25 and in Uppsala Cathedral of Stockholm on April 26. The choir performed the best samples of the Armenian national and spiritual music. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia informed Armenpress that the concerts were attended by the Swedish Parliament’s deputies, the heads of the local self-governing bodies, accredited ambassadors to Sweden, political, cultural and public figures.

An opening speech was delivered by the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Sweden Artak Apitonian, presenting the guests the message of the Armenian Genocide centennial commemoration and the appreciation of the Armenian nation to the people, especially the Swedish religious and political figures for the assistance, provided during the Genocide. He stated that the concerts by Geghard are a memorial tribute to the destroyed cultural heritage during the Genocide.
