Congressman Smith urges the U.S. government to put an end to denial of the Armenian Genocide

YEREVAN, 15 APRIL, ARMENPRESS.Member of the U.S. House of Representatives Chris Smithhas posted an article onapp.com, urging the U.S. government to put an end to the policy of denial of the Armenian Genocide.“Genocide is the most terrible crime that any nation can undergo, or another people can commit. It must never be forgotten. To forget it would be to dull our consciences and diminish our own humanity. It must never be denied, but fully acknowledged. Otherwise, any meaningful attempt at reconciliation will be thwarted,”wrote the Congressman in his article entitled “U.S. must end its denial of Armenian genocide”, as “Armenpress” reports.

He also mentions that he is preparing to chair a congressional hearing on April 23-the day before Armenian Remembrance Day (April 24)-which this year marks the 100thanniversary of the genocide.
