MP Karine Atchemyan called on her counterparts to recognize the Armenian Genocide

YEREVAN, 8 APRIL, ARMENPRESS.Deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Karine Atchemyanhas called on her counterparts of different countries to raise the issue of the Armenian Genocide in their respective parliaments and condemn it. The MP gave a speech devoted to the Armenian Genocide Centennial commemoration events during the session of the bureau of the Peace and National Security Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.“That was the only platform where I was able to raise the issue. I talked about our plans and called on the members to condemn and discuss the Armenian Genocide within their respective parliaments since that’s the only way to make sure genocide never happens again,”the MP declared during a press conference, as “Armenpress” reports.
The MP, who was the only representative of the Armenian delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union this year, had a meeting with the parliamentary delegation of Syria. During a conversation with Syria’s parliamentary speaker, Karine Atchemyan presented the situation facing Syrian-Armenians having settled in Armenia as a result of the Syrian war, as well as their needs and the efforts that are being made.
