YEREVAN, 24 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. Turkey has to remember the Armenian Genocide and adopt a corresponding decision on this issue. This is what member of the Union of Armenians of Dersim Mihran Prkich, who visited Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex with the heads and figures of villages of Dersim, said during a press conference today. As “Armenpress” reports, the representatives of Dersim paid tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide on the last day of their visit to Armenia, which started on March 21stand was organized at the initiative of Modus Vivendi Center and the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia.
Among them was Dersim-Armenian Zeki Sarejan, who was baptized, returned to his Armenian roots and was named Armenak two-and-a-half months ago. “I’m here for the fist time and am very nervous. At the initiative of Mihran Prkich, we Armenians of Dersim slowly started discovering and recognizing our identity and ourselves. Of course, I had known I was Armenian since I was a child, but due to the conditions in Turkey,. we wouldn’t dare to speak out about it. There are many people in Dersim who hide their Armenian identity, and there are those who don’t know about their identity. Many things changed after Dink’s death. This problem started stirring things up in Turkey. I had always felt that I was Armenian, but things heated up even more after Hrant’s death,” Armenak mentioned, adding that everyone in the village knows how their Armenian families were saved.
