Another monument to be erected in Ararat Province on occasion of Armenian Genocide Centennial

ARTASHAT, 20 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. On the occasion of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, a 6.5 meter high khachkar (cross-stone)-monument is being erected in the Vanashen community of Ararat Province through funding from the community’s budget. Flowers are being added to the area that is being renovated for the erection of the monument.
In an interview with “Armenpress”,head of Vanashen village Artashes Grigoryanmentioned that the erection of the monument is very symbolic. In 1915, the survivors of the Armenian Genocide from Van and Sasun came and settled in the Taitan village of Ararat Province. However, they didn’t forget their heavenly Van and the nature of the powerful Sasun and expressed their longing forthe lost homelandin the new village called Vanashen.
