YEREVAN, 18 MARCH, ARMENPRESS: On 17 March, the People's Council of Syria held a session devoted to the Armenian Genocide, as the Press, Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armeniainformed “Armenpress”, that the session was opened by the Chairman of the People's Council of Syria Mohammad Jihad al-Laham.

”The next dates coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, which was carried out by the Ottomans against our friendly Armenian people. On this occasion we express our absolute solidarity to the friendly Armenian people, as well as to our Syrian-Armenian compatriots, which 100 years ago were subjected to the horrible genocide by the Ottoman authorities. Today we recall the history's most horrible and painful memory. We urge the international community and all the peoples of the world to stand side by side to face the killers, murderers and terrorism, who threaten the Middle East, in order to prevent the other crimes against humanity, civilization and history," Laham has noted in his speech.

Then, Jihad al-Laham has called on the MPs of the People's Council of Syria to stand and honor the memory of more than one and a half million innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide with a minute in silence.
