YEREVAN, 17 MARCH, 2015: Heidi Hautala, the co-chairperson of "Euronest" Parliamentary Assembly, during Armenia’s Public Television's "Interview" program, admitted that the visit to the “Tsitsernakaberd” Memorial was very impressive and the impressions were deep. As “Armenpress” reports, reflecting to the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, Hautala highlighted, that European Parliament will adopt the resolution on the 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide. “This is really is a very essential event, and I hope that it will provide a chance to Turkey to face its past, and this will give an opportunity to historians and scientists to study deeper this historic event," the European official stated.
The TV anchor noted that the fact of the Armenian Genocide actually does not need study and asked what prevents European countries to make more courageous statements, Ms. Hautala said that in 1987, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the Armenian Genocide and it is really very important. "I believe that Turkey should be able to reconcile and accept its history. When the sides reach an agreement, this will provide an opportunity for more positive developments in future and the establishment of relations between the sides," Heidi Hautala emphasized.
