Armenia’s General Prosecutor Office publishes copy of Russia’s response

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 24, ARMENPRESS: The General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia published the copy of the response of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation on the criminal case on the murder of the seven members of the Avetisyans’ family on January 12 2015 in Gyumri, Armenia. Armenpress reports that it was stated in the clarification of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, which says in particular:

“Taking into account the significant interest of the society and to avoid various comments on the issue, the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia clarifies:

The Prosecutor General of Armenia sent mediation to the Prosecutor General of Russia Yuri Chaika on February 3 2015 on passing the criminal case proceedings on the murder of seven citizens of the Republic of Armenia on January 12 2015 in Gyumri to the Armenian law enforcement bodies.

The mediation of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia is now being discussed by the Russian colleagues. To avoid misunderstandings on the mediation, we are publishing the copy of the response to the mediation, sent to the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation by the International Legal Affairs Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia”.

The six members of the Avetisyan family were shot and killed in Gyumri at around 6 a.m. on January 12, 2015. The only survivor was 6-month old Seryozha Avetisyan, who was transferred to a hospital with injuries caused by a cutting and piercing tool. The child’s health condition became worse on January 19. After fighting for his life and undergoing several difficult surgeries for a week, six-month old Seryozha Avetisyan also died on January 19. There was severe renal insufficiency and cardiac insufficiency, and doctors weren’t able to save his life. Soldier of the 102ndRussian military base stationed in Gyumri, Valery Permyakov is charged with killing the members of the Avetisyan family and causing numerous injuries to little Seryozha. Russian border guards found him when he was trying to cross the Armenian-Turkish border and handed him over to the commanders of the 102ndRussian military base. Permyakov has confessed his guilt.
