Generals of the Victory

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 23, ARMENPRESS: Ahead of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, Armenpress initiates its project “The Generals of the Victory”. We draw your attention to the Armenian marshals, generals and admirals, who made their worthy contribution in the Great Patriotic War. 68 of them got their high ranks during the years of 1940-1945 and 94 – within 1946-1997.

The Armenians, along with other nations of the Soviet Union, had a great contribution in the victory, having a considerable historical importance. More than 300,000 Armenians from Armenia, 500,000 from the Soviet Union and about 600,000 from the world, participated in the War, about 200,000 of them fallen in the battles.

On February 23, which is celebrated as the Armed Forces and Navy Day in the USSR, Armenpress reports about the launch of the series, presenting the history of the Armenians’ heroism and glory in figures.
