Robert Kocharyan reflects on the domestic political situation in Armenia

YEREVAN, 16 FEBRUARY, ARMENPRESS. The second President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan has expressed his views on the domestic political situation in Armenia. In an interview posted on2rd.am, he touched upon the criticism against leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party Gagik Tsarukyan during the February 12 session of the council of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and the situation that was created after that.“There is already an overload of serious problems in our country, and the only way to solve those problems is to have wide consolidation and restore the people's faith in the future. Unfortunately, what happened served as a strong signal in the opposite direction,”Kocharyan said, as “Armenpress” reports.

Pinpointing the possible scenarios for the development of events, Kocharyan tried to predict what kind of impact all this would have on the economy, the situation on the Line of Contact in Karabakh and the conduct of events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. Kocharyan also urged to refrain from “repressive methods", fearing that they might lead to a long-term crisis.
