Transnational criminal group, transferring drugs to Turkey, discovered in Armenia

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 12, ARMENPRESS: Due to the operative-investigative measures taken by the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, a transnational criminal group, illegally transiting drugs through the territory of Armenia, has been discovered. The press service of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia informed Armenpress that due to the taken measures, it was found out that from the countries of Latin America drugs are being transferred to Armenia by transit flights by citizens of Peru and Argentina and passed to the representatives of Bulgaria and Lebanon of the criminal group and the latter try to export them from Armenia to Turkey by air or land.
On February 12 about 4,8 kilograms of cocaine was discovered at Bulgaria’s citizens of Arab origin Malek Abas Gharib and Al Shaher Hassan Abdo, who were trying to export it to Turkey by Yerevan-Istanbul flight.
On the facts criminal cases have been instituted. The investigation is being carried out by the Investigative Department of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia.
