Leader of Shirak Diocese: “We have to mourn modestly and with prayers”

GYUMRI, 20 JANUARY, ARMENPRESS. The leader of Shirak diocese urges citizens of Gyumi to mourn modestly and with prayers. On January 20,leader of the Shirak Diocese, Bishop Mikayel Ajaphyanperformed a Requiem Service in memory of little Seryozha at St. Nshan Church in Gyumri.

As “Armenpress” reports, after the Requiem Service, His Holiness addressed the people gathered at the church and first transmitted the words of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians on the death of Seryozha Avetisyan.“Yesterday when we heard the news about the child’s death, the Catholicos of All Armenians personally expressed his sorrow and condolences, and today His Holiness sent his condolence message,”the diocesan leader mentioned.

“Alas, today we have gathered to bid farewell to the child who was in our focus for the past seven days. We all prayed for the child, knowing that our prayers might be heard because the wound was deep. For the first time, I would like to be an average person and stand in one corner of the church and cry, but I don’t have the right to cry since my calling is to help you dispel your sorrow and console you. The Avetisyans are our new patrons above. The seventh victim was like a message to us to be calm and in peace and that the Avetisyans are in the kingdom of God,”His Holiness emphasized, calling on everyone to mourn silently in the course of these days.
