Criminal and those backing him to be punished: Russian Embassy to Armenia

YEREVAN, JANUARY 20, ARMENPRESS: The Embassy of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia spread a condolence statement on the Gyumri tragedy and the death of the 6-month-old Seryozha Avetisyan, stating:“We grieve together with the whole Armenian nation”. Armenpress reports, citing the official website of the Embassy that the statement says in particular:“Until the last minute we all hoped and prayed for Seryozha Avetisyan. The Armenian and Russian doctors were fighting for his life until the end. Unfortunately, the miracle did not happen, even though we all were waiting for it very much and believed in it. Loss of a child is a terrible grief. There are no words to somehow ease the pain of the terrible tragedy that occurred. But even in these conditions one needs to be human. Most people understand everything. Mourning is a grief and prayer. We all have to learn a lesson from the tragedy, and do everything not to allow similar thing happen again. We can assure that the criminal and those, who could stand behind it, will be punished”.

The six members of the Avetisyan family were shot and killed in Gyumri at around 6 a.m. on January 12, 2015. The only survivor was 6-month old Seryozha Avetisyan, who was transferred to a hospital with injuries caused by a cutting and piercing tool. The child’s health condition became worse on January 19. There was severe renal insufficiency and cardiac insufficiency, and doctors weren’t able to save his life. Soldier of the 102ndRussian military base stationed in Gyumri, Valery Permyakov is charged with killing the members of the Avetisyan family and causing numerous injuries to little Seryozha. Russian border guards found him when he was trying to cross the Armenian-Turkish border and handed him over to the commanders of the 102ndRussian military base. Permyakov has confessed his crime.

After fighting for his life and undergoing several difficult surgeries for a week, six-month old Seryozha Avetisyan also died on January 19.
