“Sorry, Armenia”-Russian presses start apologizing

YEREVAN, 16 JANUARY, ARMENPRESS. “Sorry, Armenia”-this is the title of the article byjournalist for “Moskovskij Komsomolets” Sergey Gaponov, expressing certainty thatRussia’s elite and people need to apologize to the Armenian people, lay flowers and light candles in front of the Armenian Embassy as a sign of tribute to the members of the family that was killed in Gyumri. As “Armenpress” reports, the Russian journalist notes that handing Russian soldier Valery Permyakov over to Armenia’s investigators and the court under the charge of killing the six members of the Avetisyans in Gyumri on January 12 is not enough.

The journalist also urges his country’s high-ranking officials to visit Armenia and apologize to the Armenians. “Our high-ranking officials need to meet with Armenia’s President and the people, and not just that. Russia must always provide assistance to the relatives of the family that was killed by a Russian soldier. Finally, people have to visit the embassy (Embassy of Armenia in the Russian Federation), lay many flowers and light candles there,” the journalist writes, adding: “That’s when we won’t lose our friends. That’s when I’ll see that my Russia is a great country.” The Russian“Vzglyad” newspaperwrites that Russia has to draw serious conclusions from the tragedy that took place in Gyumri.
