YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS: The article-letter about Nagorno Karabakh written by Azerbaijani Ambassador to ArgentinaMammad Ahmadzada has raised the discontent of the local Armenian intellectuals and Argentinean society. The letter of the Ambassador was published on the Independence Day of Nagorno Karabakh in “The Nation” periodical of Buenos Aires. This was followed by a response letter titled “The Future of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic” written by Armenian and Argentinean public figures.

Armenia’s Ambassador to Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay Vahagn Melikyan said that the political decision on Artsakh’s self-determination caused the anger of the Azerbaijani authorities and they started murdering the Armenian citizens, who lived in Sumgayit, Armenpress reports citing PrensaArmenia.com. “They prosecuted and frightened the half million Armenians who lived in the territory of Azerbaijan. To avoid a new genocide this time organized by Azerbaijan, the people of Nagorno Karabakh got ready for self defense and celebrated victory against the Azerbaijani army in favor of preservation of the historical lands and for the sake of people living there”, added Vahagn Melikyan reminding that on September 2 of 1991 the Nagorno Karabakh Republic proclaimed its independence.
