Shenzhen woman auctions off 2-meter-long hair to donate money to school kids

YEREVAN, AUGUST 25, ARMENPRESS.After growing her hair out for 15 years, a 38-year-old woman in Shenzhen is now seeking someone to buy her two-meter-long locks in hopes to donate all the money to a middle school in Ningxia, reports Armenpress citing on shanghaiist.com. The long-haired lady, surnamed Xiao, has lived in Shenzhen for over ten years. She's been growing her hair out for the past 15 years. She told reporters that she decided to put her hair up for auction online when she learned of students' poor schooling environment in Ningxia. The deadline for bids was today, and as of yesterday, the highest bidding price was up to 10,000 yuan. Xiao said that nine years ago, someone wanted to purchase her hair for a hefty price of 20,000 yuan. At that time, her hair was down to her calves.

"I didn't grow my long hair until I entered university, since female students weren't allowed to grow long hair in high school," she said.

Xiao said she has to spend 10 minutes combing and another hour washing her long locks. If it rains, it takes almost a whole day to dry her hair.
