YEREVAN, AUGUST 25, ARMENPRESS. In the result of the ongoing clashes in the Near and Middle East, as well as the policy of the Islamic extremists, the local Armenian classical colonies are at the risk of reduction. On August 25, during a meeting with the journalists, Shahan Kandaharian, editor-in chief of Beirut's “Aztag” newspaper, told about this.

To the question of "Armenpress" on the influence of massive migration from the Near and Middle East on the general description of the Armenian diaspora, the editor of “Aztag” newspaper answered that in the conditions of existence of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian statehood the risk of preservation of Armenian identity is minimized. “If previously the Middle East was a very important area for the preservation of the Armenian identity of the Armenian diaspora, today the diaspora’s connection is much more active with Armenia. Of course, there is still much to do. The Republic of Armenia and the diaspora institutions should conduct joint discussions related to the strategic, political, cultural, security and language spheres, to study the Armenian diaspora with all its sublayers and outline new perspectives,” said Kandaharian. Eventually, the Armenians of the Middle East, directly or through a transit country, migrate mainly to the EU countries or the United States.
