Armenia's President Hopeful for the Peaceful Solution of Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict: UPDATE

SOCHI, 10 AUGUST, ARMENPRESS: Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan comprehensively represented countries position on Nagorno Karabakh issue in Sochi and called his Azerbaijani counterpart to drop the rhetoric, which leads to nowhere. As Armenpress reports, the President of Armenia said, that the peaceful resolution of the issue if of Armenia's interest and the necessity to resolve the conflict by peaceful means had been understood in early 1990-ies. “We think, that the issue can be resolved and must be resolved based on the mutual compromises- the principles proposed by the Co- Chairs of OSCE Minsk Group. Azerbaijani side always refers to four UN resolutions, but I have a rhetoric question to Mr. Aliyev: which point of those resolutions did Azerbaijan follow? Only Armenia followed those resolutions, using her influence to stop the military actions. If we go back to the early 1990-ies, on one hand it will be good; on the other hand something will be postponed. It will be good, because at that exact time we came to conclusion, that the issue has no military solution. But, if we will start to accuse one another again, the problem will remain unsolved for a long time”, - Sargsyan said.

The President of Armenia thanked Vladimir Putin for his efforts and said that the peaceful resolution corresponds to the interests of the Republic of Armenia.
