Armenia’s President gets acquainted with construction activities of St. Gevorg Church

YEREVAN, APRIL 5, ARMENPRESS. Within the framework of the working visit to the Tavush Province, the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan paid a visit to theconstruction site ofnewly builtSt. Gevorg Church and got acquainted with the course of the construction activities.

In a conversation with “Armenpress”, the pastor of St. Gevorg Church Fr. Aram highlighted the role of the church in the in the life of society and community and noted that for almost a century the people of Berd were deprived of the opportunity to visit the church and pray there. “Once there were 3 churches in Berd, but they all were ruined due to various reasons,” Fr. Aram underscored.

The consecration of the crosses and bell of the newly built St. Gevorg Church Berd, Tavush region, was offered by His Grace Bishop Mushegh Babayan in February of the current year. The benefactor of the church is Mr. John Stephens, USA of blessed memory, while some of the construction costs have been donated by the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. The architect of the church is Artak Ghulyan. The church is scheduled to be finished in May.
