Treaty signed making Crimea and Sevastopol part of Russia

MOSCOW, MARCH 18, ARMENPRESS: At the Federal Assembly of Russia the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of Crimea Sergey Aksionov signed a treaty on Tuesday on bringing the Crimea region and Sevastopol city into Russia. The treaty was signed shortly after delivering a speech before the parliament in which Putin said that Crimea was and is an integral part of Russia. “People are the source of any power. Based on the results of the referendum and the people’s will, I suggest the Federal Assembly to include two subjects into the state – the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol”, - said Putin, Armenpress reports.

On March 16 over 96 percent of voters in the Crimean referendum have answered ‘yes’ to the autonomous republic joining Russia and less than 4 percent of the vote participants want the region to remain part of Ukraine.
