Ombudsman of Hungary condemns Safarov’s extradition

YEREVAN, MARCH 17, ARMENPRESS: The Ombudsman of Hungary has recently introduced the Defender of the Human Rights of Armenia Karen Andreasyan the extraordinary report of the Ombudsman of Hungary regarding Ramil Safarov’s extradition that killed the Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan.

The staff of the Defender of the Human Rights of Armenia informed Armenpress that the Ombudsman of Hungary criticized the actions of the Hungarian Government, particularly the actions of the Minister of Justice related to the extradition of Ramil Safarov. The report runs as follows: “When it comes to cases like this, the state should be more vigilant and demand clear guarantees, while the Minister of Justice, when giving extradition consent, did not demand any written warranty by the Azerbaijani side on that Safarov will bear his punishment to the fullest extent in his homeland as well. The Justice Minister should take into account that the societies of Hungary and Azerbaijan had entirely different approaches both to the condemned, and the crime he made”.
