Armenian chess players chase leaders

YEREVAN, MARCH 6, ARMENPRESS: A group of Armenian chess players have scored 3 points each in the 15th individual championship of chess ongoing in Yerevan. They retain their places in the top of the tournament.

Armenpress reports that Vladimir Hakobyan defeated Andrey Stukopin. Tigran Kotanjyan defeated another Russian player Ildar Khayrulin. Robert Hovhannisyan and Gabriel Sargsyan, Arman Pashikyan and Hrant Melkumyan played in a draw.

All these Armenian Grandmasters got 3 points out of 4.

After four rounds the leader of the tournament is GM Evgeny Nayer who defeated GM Ilya Smirin in the accounting round and got 4 points. Russian grandmasters Vyacheslav Artemev, Alexander Ryazantsev and Igor Kovalenko have 3.5 points each.

Some games of the 4th round are still ongoing at the moment.

The tournament of Yerevan is simultaneously the memorial tournament of the legendary Armenian chess player Tigran Petrosyan. This year is the 85th anniversary of the World double champion of chess.
