YEREVAN, MARCH 4, ARMENPRESS: The pizza subject at the Oscar 2014 has become the most highlighted theme of the TV programs and social networks. The guest of the CNN commentator Piers Morgan is the owner of the Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria, the Armenian entrepreneur Edgar Martirosyan, who served the pizza to the audience. Edgar Martirosyan told about his impressions.
He thought the pies were for a group of writers at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. When he got there, he was told to wait. Then Ellen DeGeneres, who hosted the Academy Awards, came backstage and asked him to follow her. "I didn't know," he told CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" Monday. "I was just shocked. It was a really great moment."
And there he was, in front millions of TV viewers, delivering pizzas from his store's red and yellow boxes to the likes of Brad Pitt and Jared Leto. Martirosyan said he was most excited to see actress Julia Roberts. Since then, friends from all over the world have called to congratulate him. "I'm thinking that's when you say American dream, this is really the American dream," Martirosyan said.
Earlier it was reported that one of the noteworthy moments of this year’s Oscar’s ceremony was that Ellen DeGeneres gave pizza to all the superstars sitting in the first row. The host Ellen DeGeneres treated the likes of Martin Scorsese and Brad Pitt to some good old fashioned pizza, which let’s be honest, is probably what you were stuffing your face with at that exact moment, too. The pizzas, carried on stage by a delivery boy came from none other than Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizzeria, an L.A.-based, Armenian-American chain who is now garnering fans left and right. As Ellen walked around, offering pizza to Leonardo Dicaprio (who politely declined) and a pregnant Kerry Washington (who accepted and noted another pregnant woman nearby needed some too), the Big Mama’s rep kept his cool, delivering his pies like a pro. At one point, Brad Pitt stepped in to help with paper plate distribution.
